CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services

Why should I study Community Services?

The Community Service industry is about taking care of the health and wellbeing of others. You should study Community Services if you are interested in working with, and caring for people.

Through studying Community Services, you will learn more about this area, meet people working in the industry, visit agencies, hospitals, aged care facilities, childcare centres and many more depending on your area of interest.

By the time you complete the course, you will have a better idea about what area you would like to focus on, whether it be working with children, elderly people, refugees, youth, disability or mental health.

Where does Community Services lead?

Certificate II in Community Services is a pathway to a Certificate III course in areas such as child care, aged care, disability support, health support assistance, allied health and more.

The Certificate II can help you gain entry level work in aged care or disability support. Alternatively, you can continue your studies towards a Certificate III or university course to become a nurse, social worker, counsellor, teacher, police officer or whatever you dream!

What work will I do in Community Services?

You will have written tasks and practical work. There are opportunities to work collaboratively with other students to complete tasks. You are also encouraged to participate in work experience which we will help you to organise.

What do other students think about Community Services?

I enjoy studying this course because it gives me more understanding of how to work with older people, youth and children born in Australia and overseas. I think this subject is very useful for me because when I finish this course I would like to work in aged care.
