Why should I study Filmmaking?

This subject has a focus on the development of knowledge and skills in film production. You will learn the steps involved in the pre-production, production and post-production of film products, and work in a collaborative environment to develop your own short film. This subject is designed to challenge your critical and creative thinking to tell stories in audio-visual format.

Where does Filmmaking lead?

In this subject, you will develop and refine practical skills to write scripts, produce, direct, shoot and edit short film products. You will learn the steps in the filmmaking process, and work with camera, lighting, sound and editing equipment to create an original short film. You will gain an understanding of the film sector and how to start and develop a career in this exciting industry.

What work will I do in Filmmaking?

In Filmmaking, you will learn and implement the steps in pre-production, production and post-production for film. You will develop a script, produce storyboards, plan a shooting schedule, capture and edit footage and sound, and release a short film or scene. You will also be challenged to plan and shoot a dialogue or dynamic action scene, or negotiate an alternative with your teacher, as part of the skills development process.
