Why should I study Gateway 2 Trades?
Year 10 students considering working in the building and construction industry would benefit from this career awareness program which is specifically designed to help students understand what being a qualified tradesperson in the sector looks like. This program also supports students in planning for further training and apprenticeships.
Where does Gateway 2 Trades lead?
This program will prepare students for work experience and support them in identifying their VET pathway options as well as supporting their VETRO application process.
What work will I do in Gateway 2 Trades?
This 18 week Stage 1 SACE program is designed as a building and construction career awareness program which aims to introduce students to the many different facets of the construction industry and introduce industry specific skills and knowledge.
Students will be able to better understand how different trades contribute to the construction sector and which of these trades may best fit their individual interests and employment pathways.
Areas within the construction covered in the program are:
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Bricklaying
- Concreting
- Painting and decorating
- Wall and ceiling lining
- Wall and floor tiling
Students will also have conversations about:
- Electrical
- Civil construction
- Landscaping etc
What do others think about Gateway 2 Trades?
I chose Gateway 2 Trades because I love to work with my hands. I came from another school to TSC and really enjoyed the class and the teacher. The work we did was fun.

I like to do hands-on jobs because I love to work with my hands. I also love working with tools, so this class was a good opportunity for me to gain more knowledge. TSC was very good to go to, and they have a great workshop, lots of tools and materials to learn with.
